Hurricane Helene struck our community on September 27, 2024. Two years later, the storm is gone, but the recovery is not.
Families across Richmond, Columbia, and McDuffie counties are still living with damaged roofs, unsafe rooms, unfinished repairs, and homes they cannot restore on their own. Many are older adults. Many are uninsured or underinsured. Many have already exhausted the resources available to them.
They are our neighbors. They are still waiting.

Long-term recovery is exactly what its name suggests. It takes time.
Since Hurricane Helene, hundreds of homeowners across our region have sought help rebuilding their homes and their lives. Rally Augusta and our partners have coordinated volunteers, case management, construction expertise, materials, funding, and other resources to help families move forward.
The work continues because the need continues.

Skilled volunteer teams are coming to Greater Augusta from across the country to repair and rebuild homes. They bring their experience, their tools, their time, and their labor at no cost to the homeowners they serve. What they need are materials. Rally Augusta is working to raise $1.5 million for construction materials to help repair or rebuild 115 local homes. These funds can put roofing, lumber, drywall, flooring, plumbing supplies, and other essential materials into the hands of skilled volunteers ready to work.

Rally Augusta is the community-facing brand of the Greater Augusta Long-Term Recovery Group, or GALTRG.
We bring together nonprofit organizations, faith communities, disaster recovery organizations, businesses, government agencies, foundations, volunteers, and community leaders to address needs that no single organization can solve alone.
We coordinate. We connect. We identify gaps. We mobilize resources. Most importantly,
we work together.

Our responsibility does not end when the final Hurricane Helene home is repaired.
The partnerships, volunteer networks, systems, and community relationships built during this recovery can become the foundation for a more prepared Greater Augusta.
Rally Augusta is working toward a future where our region is organized before the next disaster, where trusted partners already know one another, where volunteers can be mobilized quickly, and where residents have a coordinated path from immediate response through long-term recovery.
